We were all children once upon a time, so we should cut them some slack.

A couple of years ago, I used to get really annoyed when little kids would ‘floss’. No, I’m not talking about dental hygiene, I’m talking about a popular dance from the late 2010’s. I can’t really explain why it bugged me, it just did. I thought it was cringy.
Fast forward to today, and whenever I hear a kid make a ’67’ joke, I get ticked off. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t even look at the number the same way anymore.
But I took a moment to think about what I was getting mad about. Why do I get miffed at kids who think that a prime number is funny? It’s honestly innocent childish silliness if you think about it. And we adults weren’t all that different when we were children.
Yeah, I did some silly things as a kid. I whipped. I nae nae’d. I dabbed. I made random videos on the family iPad. I’m sure adults reading this did some silly things as children that they shake their heads and smile about when they look back. So I guess older people, myself included, should let kids…kid around every once in a while. Even if what they do does seem a little annoying. Goofing around is an essential part of childhood, and every kid deserves a chance to be themselves.
So let kids play silly games, sing silly songs and have some fun!
